DIY-Portable Kitchen Play set
A kitchenette has been a favourite among children for centuries I believe. No more does the gender equation disturb the role play of cooking . Boys and girls both love it equally. The idea that they baked a cupcake on their own is in itself an achievement for them and their parents. Encouraging them for Role play builds confidence, communication skills and problem solving. As moms we are always looking for toys which engage children for more time. Tons of toys which will be lying in their wardrobe touched just once. And then again there are toys which they will play even after they are broken. Kitchenette is a universal toy and we all have grown up playing it. We also know that they are big and heavy, they occupy a lot of space too. Especially if you have a small house it is difficult to accommodate it. Materials needed :
1. A storage box – I have used a big one but you can also use a small one. Adjust the size of the gas stove printable according to your box size.

Directions:
Step #1.
Gather a few kitchen supplies you have at home
Step #2.
Print the gas stove, I did it in glossy paper for a little shine effect.
Step #3.
I have laminated the gas stove Printables so they don’t tear easy.
Step #4.
Stick a black chart paper on the lid of the box. (Use blu tack)
Step #5.
Now stick the gas stove cut outs with the knobs. It is easier to stick on paper than plastic.
Step #6.
Reuse the storage box as you like.
This looks so similar to our real cooking range. I involve AJ in most of the activities I do, we also baked the Blueberry Muffins which are his favourite. Involving children in household chores helps them feel competent and responsible. It helps them understand instructions and work on it. Parents have less to do which means more free time for the family to spend together. Motivate them with praising positive behaviour or a reward chart.

Along with being a fun activity it encourages your child to get into real life characters or fictional performances. Children always love to imitate adults. Every time I am in the kitchen cooking something AJ insists on being my helper, now I give him this cooking set so I cook real dinner and AJ pretends to cook the real dinner (HAHA).
